Reading Prep Games
The Reading Prep Games enable a teacher to specify just those skills for which individual students are weak so that they can focus on mastering them before advancing to a formal reading instructional program, such as the 6 Secret Codes in Reading Buddy 2.0.
Using the detailed specific recommendations from the Comprehensive Reading Readiness Assessment, a teacher can direct a student to any of 19 game-like exercises that focus on such critical reading prerequisites such as being able to name, identify, and read the individual lowercase and uppercase alphabet letters, to differentiate consonants from vowels, and to name, identify, and conceptualize the digits 1-10.
In addition, these exercises also teach students to sing the "ABC song" and the "BCD song" (to the tune of Twinkle-Twinkle) that are well-known memory aids for young readers and that greatly facilitate their learning of The 6 Secret Codes. While all 19 reading prep games can be accessed in the licensed version of Reading Buddy 2.0, the free evaluation version provides access only to the exercises that teach the "ABC song" and the "BCD song."
